Future Universal Windows Apps will include Cortana voice integration

Microsoft revealed at BUILD 2015 that upcoming Windows Universal apps for Windows 10 can integrate with Cortana to provide new experiences to customers. Microsoft has shared the news that many partners, including Viber, Uber and Shopular, are already working on their new apps for Windows 10 with Cortana integration through Voice command API.

After integration with these services, Cortana can provide content and perform tasks at any time, without the need to launch the main apps. For example, Viber users can just say “Hey Cortana, Tell John that I will be late”. Cortana will understand the message and immediately send it to your friend through its own Interface. Cortana can also launch an app to perform a certain task, such as opening a chat window and more.

The future Uber app for Windows 10 will integrate with Cortana to give recommendations based on the user’s schedule, and allow users make orders by using Cortana. Shopular is also partnering with Microsoft to deliver new experiences and features. The app will suggest coupons based on your location and the stores you are close to.

Other services can also benefit from Cortana’s capabilities and Windows 10 if developers choose to build new Universal apps using the special voice API.
