Universal Windows Apps for Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are coming soon
Facebook is working on Windows 10 apps
With Windows 10 and Universal Apps, Microsoft has attracted many developers who are eager to build apps running on a broad range of devices (from phones to desktop computers) and reach millions of new users of Windows 10. Facebook, the biggest player in the social media segment, has announced that official Windows 10 apps for Instagram, Facebook and Facebook Messenger will be coming soon.
Mark Zuckerberg has commented:
Facebook is all in on Windows 10 – we are exited to build Universal Windows Apps for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.
In fact, Windows 8.1 has an official Facebook app, while Windows Phone has Instagram and Messenger, but these apps have barely been updated since launch and many users prefer alternative solutions such as 6tag for Instagram.
Fortunately, Windows 10 is already here, and we will see lots of Universal apps that run across PCs, tablets and phones in the coming months. Some of the companies, like Shazam, have already seen a rapid increase in users who run Windows 10.
Windows 10 is now powering more than 110 million computers and tablets and the number of installations is growing at a steady pace. Windows 10 Mobile will reach the existing devices in December, while new models with the OS pre-installed will be on the market in November.
