Which models will get the update first?

Microsoft will deliver Windows 10 Mobile to all existing 8.1 smartphones later this year, but the company will roll out the update in stages, starting from the first 10 most recent Lumia models.

In a new blog post, Microsoft lists the smartphones which will be first to be upgraded to Windows 10, once it becomes available in the fall. If you have one of the models below you should be happy:

• Lumia 430
• Lumia 435
• Lumia 532
• Lumia 535
• Lumia 540
• Lumia 640
• Lumia 640 XL
• Lumia 735
• Lumia 830
• Lumia 930

Microsoft is expected to finish the work on Windows 10 Mobile this summer, but the first phones should receive the update in the fall – after September. At the same time, Microsoft will unveil a new line-up of Lumia models – all running the new operating systems.

All current phones running Windows Phone 8.1 will be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile, even models with 512MB of RAM, such as Lumia 520. Some of the most advanced features like Windows Hello and Continuum will be only available to future high-end models. Talkman & Cityman will be the first flagships to have the Microsoft’s logo and they will debut in September.
