Skype Teams will be a new messaging service for business users
Microsoft is working on a Slack competitor
Earlier this year, Microsoft was in talks to buy Slack – a popular business-oriented messaging app. Now, as it’s clear that the deal has fallen apart, we learn that Microsoft is working on its own service for business users – Skype Teams.
Skype Teams will be positioned as a direct competitor to Slack, offering not just similar features and functionality, but also threaded conversations and more. A feature called ‘Fun Picker’ will allow users to send photos, GIFs and other things. Skype Teams will have its own sidebar for a quick access to key parts of the app. Threaded conversations will differentiate Skype Teams from Slack, making Microsoft’s app more attractive with its commenting system by allowing everyone to reply to threads.
Skype Teams will be first available to Office 365 users, for operating systems Windows 10, Android and iOS.
