Skype has a new Desktop client for Windows
The new app comes to Windows, Mac and Linux
Microsoft currently has two Skype clients for Windows 10 – the UWP version and the old classic app. The company announced the UWP Skype back in 2015 with the intention to replace the classic client at some moment in the future, but that time has not yet come. However, the company has recently redesigned its classic Skype client for Windows 10 version 1511 or lower, Windows 8 & Windows 7. The app can be manually downloaded from here, if has not been updated automatically just yet.
Microsoft will not update the classic Skype for Windows 10 Anniversary Update or higher, as the company already has the UWP that should get all features you know from the classic app, and more over time.
The new Skype Desktop comes with new features, such as personalized themes, Chat media gallery, reactions to messages, and more.
