Samsung ATIV S8 in the works with Windows 10 Mobile?
Samsung and Microsoft may be working on a Windows version of the Galaxy S8
A new report from China is saying Microsoft and Samsung are working on a Windows 10 (Mobile) version of the Galaxy S8 flagship, with a possible announcement on May 2 during the Microsoft event in New York.
ITHome reports that the Galaxy S8 with Windows 10 Mobile (the possible ATIV S8?) is currently being tested, and the device is running one of the most recent builds of the platform. There is a screenshot of the alleged phone in which we can see 6GB of RAM and OS version 1704. However, the current OS build and the official Creators Update is version 1703, which takes out a bit of credibility out of the report.
Microsoft and Samsung have recently joined forces around many products, such as a premium tablet with Windows 10 and special Android versions of the Galaxy S8 which can be bought directly from the Microsoft Store.
File this news about an ATIV S8 with Windows 10 Mobile under the ‘Rumor’ section for now, but keep an eye about a possible cooperation in the mobile market. After all, the processor of the Galaxy S8 is the first to support full Windows 10 on ARM, which means this phone (if it’s real) could theoretically be upgraded to Windows OneCore OS once Microsoft is ready with the development in late 2017 / early 2018.
