Microsoft has finished the work on Windows 10
After months of hard work, the company is ready to send the final RTM build of Windows 10 to its partners. Microsoft has reportedly signed-off the final RTM version, which should reach Microsoft partners in the coming days.
Then these manufacturers will spend a couple of days testing the OS on hardware, before releasing the first laptops and tablets with Windows 10 pre-loaded after July 29.
According to The Verge, the final RTM build is 10240*. This build is still being tested internally, but Microsoft may release it to Windows Insiders before July 29. After completion of Windows 10, the developers at Microsoft have started working on the first wave of updates and fixes, which should hit the first machines soon after the official launch of Windows 10.
Some OEM partners like Dell USA are already taking pre-orders for computers running Windows 10, with a delivery expected 1-2 days after July 29. Microsoft has also announced that it will sell Surface tablets with Windows 10 from day one.
