Richer toast notifications coming to Windows 10 Mobile and Desktop
The Windows 10 Anniversary update to bring richer toast notifications
Microsoft announced at its BUILD conference that the upcoming Windows 10 Redstone / Anniversary update will bring improvements to the toast notifications.
These future toast notifications will show more relevant information, and with bigger images, new button styles, better discoverability, and other improvements, they will offer a richer user experience.
The Notification center in Windows Redstone update will have a new Settings icon. From there, users can disable notifications from certain apps. Developers can add context menu to the toasts, while each app can use different color for incoming notifications.
Most features won’t need (major) code changes so it should be relatively easy for app developers to implement these richer toasts in their Universal Windows apps.
Microsoft is expected to roll out a big update to all Windows 10 devices in the summer with improvements in Action Center, Live Tiles, Cortana, Continuum, and more.
