Microsoft rolls out the new Photos app to Mobile Insiders

I was surprised to read today that Windows 10 Mobile gets the new Photos app with all new features introduces to Windows 10 PCs months ago. Aggiornamenti Lumia is reporting that 8 months after the last official update for Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft Photos gets an update via the Store. It’s available only for Insiders in the Fast Ring, and has some bugs, according to the report.

I’ve immediately re-joined the Insider program on my Lumia 950 to see if the update to version 2018.18011.13438.0 is available for me, but I couldn’t see it. Maybe it’s an unintentional release, not planned for current smartphones, but for the next-generation of mobile devices like Andromeda, or I should wait some time to grab it. Alternatively, here is a link to MEGA for the .appx package.  

However, the new version of Photos comes with a new look and many new features – the same as those on PC, and maybe more, because the official PC version is older – 2017.39101.16720.0. There is the ability to edit the photos, add filters, draw and more.

We will update this article if the new Photos app appears on our smartphone in the Fast Ring.
