You will be able to send messages to Xbox friends directly from the Messaging app

The next major update of Windows 10 called Redstone will include a deeper Xbox integration. The People app in the Insider Redstone builds already has an option to show Xbox contacts and you can even link these contacts to other profiles in the People app.

The integration is a work in progress, but once completed you may be able to use the default Messaging app to send messages to Xbox friends – you may be able to switch between Skype, Xbox and SMS. The History tab in the People app may even include Xbox history and achievement.

Microsoft could even go further by integrating third-party apps into the People app and allowing them to share information in a way similar to the old People Hub in Windows Phone 8.
