Nokia is doing some very impressive things for the smartphone photography. The advantages of the PureView hardware are obvious and Nokia’s exclusive software guarantees you stunning results. A few days ago at Nokia World, a brand new app was teased – Nokia Refocus. Now, Nokia Conversations shares some more details about the app.

When you press the shutter key, Nokia Refocus takes a number of different pictures over the entire focus range so you don’t need to worry about the focus before taking the shots. The app creates a depth map on scene and produces a combined photo with a focus that can be adjusted after the shot is taken. Then you can open the photo and adjust the focus whenever you like it.

Nokia Refocus has several advantages. First, it saves you a lot of time and simplifies the photographic processes. Second, it gives you endless editing opportunities. For example, if you notice something in the foreground you can focus on it. The process is simplified and you just need to click on the chosen area and the magic trick happens. You click anywhere and that area comes into focus or you make the entire shot to be in focus.

Below, you can see two image samples processed with the Nokia refocus app, in which two different areas of the shot are in focus.

In addition to the main feature, Nokia Refocus enables you to share the stunning photos with your friends over the social networks. The new Windows Phone app will be available for Lumia 920, 925, 928, 1020 and 1520 in the coming weeks.

Update: The app is now available in the store. Download it from here.
