Nokia launches HERE Explore, it’s a guide that helps you find places
Nokia has extended its mapping services with a brand new app called HERE Explore. The service takes into account your current location and suggests interesting places around you based on Nokia’s own contextual recommendation engine. HERE Explore is different than HERE Maps. While the HERE Maps is designed primarily to find a place that you already know, HERE Explore guides you, showing you places you haven’t been before.
You are given recommendations divided into categories. If you decide to visit a place, HERE Explore will show you the route on the map. Moreover, you will be shown an augmented reality and the location will be highlighted. By tapping on the address, you will start the regular navigation service.
Currently, the app is available for selected countries, but it seems like a great addition to the HERE package. As you know, Nokia is going to focus on its mapping services and software once the deal with Microsoft is approved.
