Nokia Camera renamed to Lumia Camera
Microsoft removes the Nokia name from all apps
Microsoft started re-branding its apps back in September, by switching Creative Studio, Panorama, Storyteller, Cinemagraph and other apps from Nokia to Lumia. In line with the ongoing brand transition (from Nokia Lumia to Microsoft Lumia), the company will rename the last Nokia-branded application today.
Lumia Camera will be exactly the same as the Nokia Camera app, with no new features and changes. The major update, however, is expected before the end of 2014 along with a firmware called Lumia Denim. Then, users can use a couple of new features such as Rich and Moment Capture & Dynamic Flash. These features will work only on new PureView devices like Lumia 930, Icon, 1520 and 830.
Other changes expected in early 2015 are connected with Lumia Cinemagraph. The sharing process will be simplified as all files won’t be stored on memories.nokia.com but on OneDrive. From the cloud users can easily share their animated GIFs on the social networks.
Before switching sharing to OneDrive users must download all old animations stored on the Nokia server because they will be automatically deleted. Cinemagraphs stored on the smartphone remain intact. The changes will land in very early 2015 so you have plenty of time.
