Nokia Camera is available, Nokia Refocus and RAW support coming soon
Nokia has always been a leading company in mobile photography when we talk about hardware. Today, Nokia has made a huge step to further improve its software offerings. Nokia has just released the new Nokia Camera app that combines all features of Pro Cam and Smart Cam into a single Windows Phone app. The new app allows you to take beautiful shots using the auto mode, or to switch to the mode advanced full manual control. With Nokia Camera you can take a sequence of photos and then you can combine them, remove objects, change faces and do other magic. If you already have Nokia Pro Cam, an update will switch everything over to Nokia Camera.
You can find the Nokia Camera app here in the Windows Phone store. The app works with limited functionality if you don’t have the Lumia Amber update.
The new camera app is definitely great, but that’s not everything. Nokia will continue to push the boundaries of the mobile photography because Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1020 will get RAW support very soon. RAW is the raw data from the camera sensor that allows full creative control over the final images through utilizing processional software like Photoshop and Lightroom. The RAW support will come with the Lumia Black update (Bittersweet shimmer) in early 2014.
Finally, a brand new app called Nokia Refocus will allow you to refocus on different parts of the photo. Nokia Refocus is a result of the cooperation between Nokia and Pelican Technology. Refocus will turn your Lumia into a Lytro-like camera. The app will be available for all PureView Lumia devices in mid-November.
