A Miracast Dongle Developed by Microsoft
A new product has just appeared in the database of the FCC. It is developed by Microsoft Mobile and its essence was a mystery, at first. Its model name is Microsoft HD-10.
Initially, the product was suspected to be a new model of Qi wireless charger because that’s the time of the year when Microsoft renews this type of accessories. However, its properties did not include charging capacity but it still had a USB and HDMI connection together with Wi-fi. Finally, the truth was revealed by Nokiapoweruser and HD-10 turned out to be officially named as “Miracast Dongle” including Wi-fi Direct and Wi-fi b/g/n support.
If you don’t know, Microsoft supports a function allowing you to show anything that is on your phone display to the screen of a monitor, TV and projector. It is called Project My Screen and operates through wired or wireless connection. For the second type of connection Windows Phone counts on the Miracast technology which is still not so widespread. That’s why Lumia needs a new type of technologies in order to be a rival of Apple TV.
More information is expected to be released in the beginning of September.
