Microsoft stops the HealthVault apps for Windows, Android and iOS
HealthVault Insights apps will be retired in January.
Microsoft has announced that the HealthVault Insights app for Windows Phone, Android and iOS will be retired at the end of January. The company writes that this was a research project which helped the company learn more about machine learning and apply this knowledge to other projects.
The apps had as a main goal to generate insights about health and manage care plans from healthcare providers. Microsoft has also abandoned its hardware ambitions in the healthcare sector with the Microsoft Band.
From the blog post:
We launched HealthVault Insights as a research project last year, with the goal of helping patients generate new insights about their health. Since then, we’ve learned a lot about how machine learning can be used to increase patient engagement and are now applying that knowledge to other projects. As part of this progression, we’ve made the decision to remove HealthVault Insights from the iOS, Android and Windows stores effective later this month. This change will have no impact on the data users generated in HealthVault Insights, which will continue be accessible via the HealthVault website. Thank you for participating in our project. Please contact our support team if you have any questions.
It is worth noting that you can continue using the same app on the Android and iOS platforms. You can read about the latests apps for iPhone.
