Microsoft closes the year with 200 million Windows 10 installs
Windows 10 installations reportedly surpass 200 million
Microsoft hopes that 1 billion devices will be running Windows 10 in three years, and it seems that the company’s ambitions are quite realistic. According to sources familiar with the matter, Windows 10 is already running on more than 200 million devices worldwide.
The company announced in October that the installations were 110 million, so we have at least 90 million new installs for 3 months.
While the growth of the Windows 10 install base is definitely impressive, the numbers are not so surprising at all – Windows 10 is being offered as a free upgrade from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. At the same time, we start to see announcements of new devices running Windows 10 out of the box.
