Major mobile operators supporting Windows 10 on ARM
Always Connected PCs coming later this year
Qualcomm and Microsoft are making a huge bet on Windows 10 on ARM. The first so-called Always Connected PCs should be coming to the market this spring, with major brands like HP, Lenovo and Asus designing lightweight laptops with all-day battery life, and 4G / LTE support. As you probably know, Windows 10 on mobile-class processors will have some limitations, but the experience will be very close to a real PC, not anything close to the Windows RT adventure.
Qualcomm has just announced in a blog post that many major operators around the globe will be supporting (or maybe selling) these new PCs powered by Snapdragon processors. Here is the current list of the cellular providers that will support the Always connected PCs, while many others could be added to this list as 2018 unfolds:
- Australia – Telstra
- China – CMCC (China Mobile Communications Corporation), China Telecom
- France – Transatel
- Germany – Deutsche Telekom
- Italy – TIM (Telecom Italia)
- Ireland – Cubic
- Spain – Telefónica
- Switzerland – Swisscom
- U.S.A – T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon
- U.K. – EE
Matt Barlow from Microsoft comments: “The Always Connected PC combines the connectivity and the simplicity of the smartphone with the power and creative capability of the Windows 10 PC, transforming how we work and play”
