Lumia sales hit 9.3 million during Q3 2014
Lumia and Surface sales on the rise
Microsoft announced its quarterly earnings report for Q3 2014, and sales of both Lumia and Surface products are improving.
For the quarter ending in September (Q3) Microsoft sold 9.3 million Lumia-branded smartphones compared to 8 million in Q2 2014 and 8.8 million a year ago. The last quarter has marked Lumia’s highest ever figures, an achievement driven by new low/mid-range devices based on Windows Phone 8.1 released in 2014. Microsoft has not specified which is the best selling smartphone for that period and where Lumia sales improved and by how much.
Microsoft also revealed that Surface’s margin was positive. The tablet brand generated a revenue of $908 million for Q3 2014, achieved by strong Surface Pro 3 performance. For comparison, Surface revenue for the same period last year was $400 or Microsoft sees a massive 127% increase.
