Alleged ‘Lumia Emerald’ firmware spotted on the Net
Lumia Emerald (+Update 2) for Windows Phone 8.1 could be under testing?
Windows Phone’s latest official version (Update 1 + Lumia Denim firmware) has just begun rolling out to selected Lumia devices like the 920 and 1520, while the newly launched Lumia 830 and 730/5 models are shipping with the Denim update pre-installed.
A leaked image of unconfirmed authenticity coming from China (source WMPU) reveals that the upcoming firmware from Microsoft might be called Lumia Emerald and the update could be already in the slot for being pushed live for developers in the coming weeks. Nokia (now Microsoft) gives special names to its Firmware following the alphabetical order – Amber, Black, Cyan, Denim, so ‘E’ for Lumia Emerald would make sense.
Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 (Emerald) is expected to bring:
- toggle Mobile data on/off from the Action Center
- support for 2k screens and Snapdragon 805 processors
- Cortana alpha for more countries
- search option in settings + the ability to sort settings alphabetically
