Lumia 650 could be the last Lumia before the Surface Phone
Microsoft to announce the Lumia 650 in February
The business-oriented Lumia 650 could be announced on February 1st, according to sources close to Windows Central. There won’t be a special press-event for the unveiling, and the company will just publish a blog post with details about the device.
The source also believes there won’t be another Lumia in 2016 and the next Microsoft branded phone will be launched as ‘Surface’.
This contradicts with previous reports claiming that Microsoft may also be unveiling a mid-ranger in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Whether the upcoming Lumia 750/850 is canceled or not, will become clearer in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, a device labeled RM-1182 has been certified in several countries, which means we may see another new Lumia in the coming months.
So, one or two new Lumias in 2016, and then the highly anticipated Surface Phone by Panos. This upcoming flagship is expected to use an Intel processor, and include support for Win32 apps within Windows 10 Mobile.
