Lumia 520 attacks the low-end market: just $90 at Amazon, top seller in Finland
A couple of weeks ago the most popular Windows smartphone Nokia Lumia 520 went on sale as a pre-paid GoPhone at AT&T for $99. Now, the American customers can grab this budget phone at Amazon for just $90 and free shipping. You can’t find an Android alternative with such characteristics at that price level. Actually, the Windows Phone performs quite well for $90; it has a 4-inch display, 8 GB of internal memory, a dual-core Snapdragon processor at 1 GHz and 512 MB of RAM. Moreover, if you live in the US, the Lumia 520 comes with GDR2 pre-loaded.
The Lumia 520 sales are speeding up in other parts of the world. Last month, Kantar WorldPanel revealed that Lumia 520 accounts for more than 12% of the global Windows Phone sales (12.4% in the UK, 15.2% in France, 20.8% in India).
According to a new report published on Tekniikka & Talous, the budget-friendly smartphone has become the top seller across all three mobile operators in Finland – DNA, Sonera and Elisa. Lumia 520 was launched in Finland in July and for a short period of time has occupied the first place. This is good news for Nokia because the aggressive strategy to attack the low-end segment offering a decent Windows phone is definitely paying off now. Nokia is launching another affordable low/mid-range device with a huge 4.7-inch display. Read more about the Lumia 625 here.
