Joe Belfiore promised that WhatsApp would be coming ‘soon’ after being pulled out of the Windows Phone Store due to serious notification issues. Today, the popular cross-platform messenger is available for download – just head to the Store to grab WhatsApp version 2.11.490.0. In addition to bug fixes and performance improvements, the app has some other interesting new features.

WhatsApp for Windows Phone now gives you the ability to select chat backgrounds, set custom notification sounds, control privacy and auto download media settings. The settings menu has been changed so it should be easier for you to find all options. The new version is available here.
