HTC One M8 for Windows includes ‘Motion Launch’ or ‘Double Tap to wake’
New Windows Phone SDK from early 2014 suggested that Microsoft’s exclusive Windows Phone feature called ‘Double Tap to wake’ could be employed by other Windows manufacturers. Double Tab to wake was introduced in 2013 and immediately became one of the favorite features in Windows Phone 8.1. When ‘Double tap’ is on, you can tap on the display twice to turn it on, so you don’t need to use the power button.
HTC One M8 for Windows became the first non-Nokia Windows device to feature this technology. HTC’s version is called ‘Motion Launch’ and is hidden under Settings so you can easily turn it on or off.
HTC’s Motion Launch works in conjunction with the Interactive case support, so all HTC users can buy one of those nice Dot View cases.
HTC One (M8) now runs two operating systems – Windows and Android. The Windows version is being sold exclusively through Verizon Wireless for $99 with a new contract. Sprint and AT&T will also offer the new smartphone later this year, around the same time when the HTC One is expected to arrive in Europe and other markets.
