HTC One M8 for Windows to receive the new OS

HTC USA announced on Twitter that their current Windows Phone flagship, HTC One M8 for Windows, will be upgraded to Windows 10 later this year.

HTC One M8 for Windows, which is exactly the same phone as the Android One M8, was released six months ago through three US carriers – Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Sadly, this phone didn’t make its way to other markets, despite the initial expectations based on leaks from some European retailers.

For all current HTC One M8 owners, the question whether their phones will get Windows 10 Mobile or not has remained opened until today. HTC now clarifies that software updates will be provided for 24 months after the phone launch, which means we will have at least 18 months with full support from now on.

The phone already received the official Windows phone 8.1 Update 1, while the first (and second) pre-release version of Windows 10 was not available through the Insider Program.

Microsoft has confirmed than some non-Lumia devices will be supported in future builds of Windows 10, and we expect that HTC One M8 for Windows Phone will be among the first to be included in the program. There are rumors that HTC could be working on a Windows variant of its new flagship HTC One M9, but the information about this possible phone is scarce at this point.
