HTC 8X and 8S get option to delete temporary files with GDR 2 update
Probably the biggest issue which users face while using Windows Phone 8 is the “other storage” issue. Currently, there is no final resolution to this problem because Microsoft has not made any effort to fix it.
Nokia has worked in that direction and released their Storage Check app. We reported a few days ago that Huawei is also developing their clear-memory app for Windows Phone. Now, it seems that HTC`s users will also get a similar chance.
We reported today that GDR2 update has started rolling out to non-Nokia devices and now there are already reports that the update is rolling out for HTC 8X and 8S devices. According to reports of some of their owners, the update comes with embedded option for deleting temporary files.
It is still not clear whether the fix is coming from Microsoft as the Nokia devices with GDR2 update has not got it. According to WPCentral, most probably this is either an optional configuration for all OEMs or is developed by HTC.
The new option is built into the operating system and users can find it in the Settings/Phone Storage area as “temporary files” area. The user can clear some space by tapping on that area. It is not clear, however, whether the cleaning the temporary files affects the other storage. Those of you who already have it may share your impressions with us.
