How to set Google as a default search engine for Microsoft Edge
How to change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile uses Bing as a default search engine, and you can simply search the Internet by entering the phrase in the address bar and tapping ‘Enter’. Although Bing is a great search engine, you may prefer Google or another search service in the browser. Fortunately, Windows 10 allows you to change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge from the browser’s settings. To set another search engine you need to follow these steps:
-
Visit the search engine you want to set as default. Microsoft Edge needs to recognize the web page before you could select it as a search engine. Visit google.com
-
In the Microsoft Edge browser, click on the menu button (the three dots …) at the top (Windows 10) or at the bottom (Windows 10 Mobile), and then open Settings.
-
Scroll down and click on ‘View advanced settings’.
-
In the Advanced settings menu, scroll down to the ‘Change search engine’ option.
-
Tap on ‘Change search engine’, select ‘Google’ and click on the ‘Set as default’ button.
Changing the default search engine from Bing to Google (or other) will not affect the Cortana experience in Windows 10. Cortana is exclusively powered by Bing.
