Files: Official File Manager for Windows Phone
Microsoft finally launched the official File Manager for Windows Phone 8.1. Called ‘Files’, this simple and straightforward app allows you to access documents, videos, music, pictures and other files stored on SD card or phone storage. You can browse and search for files, share them, create folders, organize files and folders, delete, move and copy files.
When you start the app, you see how much space you have left on the SD card and phone’s storage. ‘Files’ shows the number of files in each folder, and you need to click on the folder to see the files inside.
The search function lets you find a specific file and then delete, move, share or copy it. Files can be sorted by size, time or name. Another useful feature is the ability to share files as attachments via mail. Select one or more files, press share, select mail account and the app opens a new email with all files as attachments. Windows Phone file manager ‘Files’ is a free app available for download from the Windows Phone Store.
