A leaked version of Project Astoria tool allows installing Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile devices

Microsoft will officially release its Windows Bridge for Android in the fall, but an early version of the tool has already leaked in China to allow Windows insiders run Android apps on many of the Lumia smartphones.

Apps like Slack, Snapchat, Twitter for Android, Launcher and many others have been successfully installed on Windows phones, although we wouldn’t recommend trying it because of potential problems with your device. If you want to try it at your own risk, you can find detailed instructions and a video from wpxbox. The list with supported devices include:

  • Nokia Lumia 920
  • Nokia Lumia 1020
  • Nokia Lumia 925
  • Nokia Lumia Icon
  • Nokia Lumia 830
  • Nokia Lumia 930
  • Nokia Lumia 1520
  • Nokia Lumia 635
  • Nokia Lumia 730
  • Nokia Lumia 820
  • Nokia Lumia 435
  • Nokia Lumia 928

After presenting the final bridge tools for iOS and Android later this year, Microsoft hopes that many developers will bring their apps to Windows 10 after very few modifications in the code.
