Devices running two operating systems are not something new on the market. There are a couple of PC vendors offering products with both Windows and Android. Now, it appears the phone manufactures will embrace the same strategy and we will see the first handsets that dual-boot Windows Phone and Android OS this summer.

According to The Times of India, Karbonn has reached a deal with Microsoft and plans to create phones that support both mobile platforms. The first models that dual-boot are expected on the market in 6 months time. Though it is not clear what kind of benefits these devices will bring they will target tech-savvy users and professionals.

Ahead of the first dual-booting phones, Karbonn will launch its first regular Windows Phone in around three months. Microsoft is currently finalizing the Windows Phone 8.1 update and phone makers will be able to produce devices with less storage capacity and budget Snapdragon 200 and 400 processors, changes that will open the platform to new manufacturers and increase the number of Windows Phone devices.
