Camera magic explained

The Lumia brand is famous with the great cameras and many people are probably waiting for a Lumia 1020 successor. While such a device may not see the daylight anytime soon, because Microsoft is focusing its strategy on a fewer models, we have something to excite us – the camera in Lumia 950 & 950 XL.

In a new blog post, the company talks about its most advanced camera to date and even provides some sample images to demonstrate its abilities.

The main specs are: F1.9, 20MP 1/2.4″ BSI Zeiss, Triple LED, ISO 12800, 4k video, 5^th generation OIS

Based on the sample images, we believe that Lumia 950 & 950 XL are at least as good as the Lumia 1020. The photos have great details and natural colors, with nicely exposed bright and dark areas. In low light, Microsoft has even compared the Lumia against one of the high-end models on the market right now (we believe it is the Galaxy S6) and the difference is huge.

Juha Alakarhu also talks about the innovative software in the new smartphones – rich capture, dual exposure and dynamic flash. With all these things, even beginner photographers should produce great results, while the more advanced users still have their full manual controls.
