Cortana coming to Office apps
Cortana to be integrated into Office for app devices
Microsoft is working on extending Cortana’s capabilities to the Office apps for all Windows 10 devices. Windows Blog Italia has posted leaked screenshots showing an internal project called ‘Work Assistant’.
This app has been supervised by Bill Gates and Julie Larson-Green, according to Jo Foley. Work Assistant will eventually add Cortana integration so users can search, open and share files by voice on all devices – PCs, tablets, and phones. Users can either type in the search bar or use the microphone icon to dictate searches or commands.
Microsoft’s Office had an assistant in the 90s. Called ‘Clippy’, he managed to annoy most of the Office users with random pops up and irrelevant tips. Microsoft eventually abandoned the project in newer editions of the Office pack.
Redmond is yet to confirm Cortana’s arrival to Office, but these leaks are clear indications that the company is working hard to make Windows Phone platform really competitive by announcing new features and apps working on all platforms.
