Good news for Windows Phone lovers in the US

AT&T is preparing the launch of two new smartphones – HTC One M8 for Windows and the Nokia Lumia 830. The Windows version of the HTC One (M8) has been available exclusively through Verizon Wireless for nearly two months now but the device will be unleashed to other carriers in the US and worldwide once the negotiated exclusivity agreement expires. AT&T seems to be among the first providers to carry the handset, according to WPCentral, with a launch date set for November 7.

Friday, November 7 is also the planned release date for the Lumia 830 so US customers will have more than one choice. In fact, both phones are in completely different market segments. Though the Lumia 830 has been described as a ‘budget flagship’, the phone is definitely weaker than the HTC One. The latter has a 5-inch Full HD display and a super-fast Snapdragon processor at 2.3 GHz. Nokia Lumia 830, on the other hand, is built around the budget quad-core processor running at 1.2 GHz. Two areas where the Lumia is catching up are the design and the 10MP PureView camera, which should even outperform the 4MP UltraPixel camera module of the HTC One.

To summarize, those on AT&T (or future subscribers) will have two great new Windows Phones launching in less than a month, just in time for the Holidays.

Are you planning to buy a new Windows phone and which model do you prefer – Lumia 830 or HTC One ?
