Over the last decade, online casinos have grown in popularity all over the world, especially in North America. In Canada alone, the iGaming industry raked in $17.3 billion throughout 2017, an increase on the Canadian Gaming Association’s (CGA) previously estimated $15 billion per year figure. So, what has led to Canada developing such a rich online casino culture that now covers every corner of the internet from desktops to mobiles? We think it has to be the games as without them there’s nothing. More specifically, we think it could be these games:

1. Lotteries

Okay, so not every online casino has lottery games, but we can’t ignore just how much of an impact these historic gambling games have had on the industry and country. Plus, bingo is very similar to lotteries in that you must have the numbers that are called out to win, and there’s no denying the popularity of bingo. Really, the only reason that lotteries are considered to be outside the world of casinos is because they have been widely available for centuries, while most other gambling games were not. This ended up working in the casino industry’s favour though, and it was actually British Columbia’s Lottery Corporation that launched the first ever online casino in North America.

2. Blackjack

It’s thought that blackjack accounts for almost a third of online casino table game action, which explains why every good online casino offers the game as well as why there are so many different versions available. When online casinos first began to appear on the internet in the early 2000s, most sites had blackjack games but they were often the standard version. Now, it’s not unusual for a good online casino to have several versions of twenty-one, live blackjack and even blackjack based on pop culture themes such as superheroes or TV shows. There are even mobile application blackjack games that you can download on your smartphone to play on the go, with popular titles including Blackjack Legends: 21 Online and Blackjack Tournament.

3. Slots

Finally, we have the darlings of the online casino world: slots. Anyone who plays at online casinos has no doubt found at least one online slot that they absolutely adore, as there are so many to choose from. They take up a major share of the online casino game industry, offering players easy fun with basically no learning curve, complete with big wins and a passionate community of fellow fans.
