35.7 million Windows Phone devices shipped in 2013
It is already 2014 and we might take a look what the reports say regarding the overall smartphone shipments in 2013. According to a report, provided by the renowned research firm Strategy Analytics, Windows Phone is consolidating its position as a third major ecosystem in the smartphone industry.
The report says that Windows Phone shipped 35.7 million devices last year, taking a market share of 3.6%. This is not much compared to Android, which again takes the cake with 781.2 million devices shipped and respectively 78.9% share. However, with these numbers the Microsoft`s ecosystem leaves firmly behind its competitors which take a summary share of 2.0%.
From what can be seen in the tables above, both Android and Windows Phone keep increasing their sales from year to year, in contrast to iOS. The increase for Android for 2013 compared to 2012 is 10.1%, as for Windows Phone it is 0.9%. iOS remains at a second position, but loses a market share of 3.9%.
